Digital Fiesta Medal
Congratulations!
Lucky you! You've managed to secure a genuine digital fiesta medal!! But now what? Well, this site will help guide you through it's use!
Care
Don't get it wet! There are delicate electronics and it doesn't want to be soaked. If you do get it wet, disconnect the battery cable at the back immediately and let it completely dry before reconnecting.
Charge it! There is a built-in battery on your fiesta medal but you'll still need to charge it. You'll find a USB-C port at the bottom of your medal.
Wear it! Your medal wants to be worn, so take it out for a spin!!!
Use
On the back of the medal, you'll see 2 buttons. One says boot, and one says reset. For now you'll not need the boot button. The reset button should restart your medal. Go ahead and push it then look at the medal screen.
When you reboot, a menu will appear. Tilt towards the direction you'd like to move and you'll select that option.
Game mode allows you to play a simple "keep the ball on the table" game.
Main mode will display the regular rotating images.
Debug mode will show you information about the board itself.
To switch between modes, hit the reset button on the back of the board then use the menu to select an option.
To turn it off, go to the menu and select off. To turn it off immediately or permanently, remove the battery wire from the back of the board.
Hacking
The medal uses a Waveshare RP2040 1.28" LCD development board.
First-level hacking can be achieved by plugging the board into a computer via USB-C, and replacing the image in the CIRCUITPY drive with a different image of the same dimensions.
Second-level hacking can be achieved by plugging the board into a computer via USB-C, and editing the code.py file found on the CIRCUITPY drive.
Third-level hacking can be achieved by reading the documentation on the board and replacing the Circuit Python runtime with a different runtime.
